Jim Schrempf has been engaged in the practice of law in Alton, Illinois, since 1976, after graduation from the University of Illinois College of Law.  Jim focuses his practice in the area of municipal law.  First appointed as attorney for the City of Alton in 1977, Jim has developed a reputation as a leading attorney in municipal law and intergovernmental entities.  At one time or another, he has represented most of the municipalities in the St. Louis Metro-East area.  He is currently counsel for City of Alton and City of Grafton.  In addition, Jim is frequently retained by municipalities or governmental bodies at the recommendation of their regular municipal attorneys to assist in unusual or complex issues.

In addition, to his municipal practice, Jim has an active estate and probate practice.

Jim prides himself on his reputation for honesty and competence as an attorney on any matter in which he is involved.

He is licensed in the State of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

Jim is a past president of the Alton-Wood River Bar Association and a 30-year member of the Illinois Bar Association.  He has served for many years on the Local Government Section Council of the Illinois Bar Association.

Jim is a life long resident of Alton, Illinois, where and his wife have built their home and raised two children.
